Elevate your mornings with homemade Kaiser rolls
Homemade Kaiser rolls are a perfect way to start the day. They are crisp, soft, and fluffy; the herb butter beautifully enhances their flavour.
Kaiser rolls are among the most popular types of bread in stores. Try making your rolls at home instead of buying low-quality bread from deep-frozen dough. This is a reliable recipe for a breakfast that will delight your loved ones. Some suggest that "Kaiser" comes from the German word "Kaiser", which means emperor. These rolls can undoubtedly make you feel royal.
Recipe for Kaiser rolls
Freshly baked and crispy on the outside yet fluffy inside, these rolls melt in your mouth. Preparing them is easier than it may seem, and the aroma of baking Kaiser rolls will make your stomach rumble.
Homemade rolls with cuts are far superior to those from the store. Herb-garlic butter with finely chopped shallots enhances the whole experience. Homemade Kaiser rolls taste best fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container for 2 to 3 days.
Ingredients:
Kaiser Rolls
- 20 g fresh yeast,
- 1 teaspoon sugar,
- 250 mL water,
- 500 mL all-purpose flour,
- 1 pinch of salt,
- 1 egg,
- 70 g melted butter.
Herb Butter
- 1 clove of garlic,
- 100 g butter,
- 80 mL chopped chives,
- 80 mL chopped parsley,
- 1 small shallot,
- 1/3 teaspoon salt.
Instructions:
Step 1. Crumble the yeast into warm water, add a tablespoon of flour and sugar, and stir. Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes to rise, ensuring it doubles in volume.
Step 2. Meanwhile, prepare the herb butter. Peel and crush the garlic, then add it to the softened butter. Incorporate the finely chopped shallot, chives, parsley, and salt, and mix thoroughly.
Step 3. Sift the remaining flour into a bowl, then add salt, egg, melted butter, and the risen yeast. Knead a smooth, uniform dough for the rolls. Set aside for an hour to rise.
Step 4. Gently stretch the risen dough on a floured surface and divide it into smaller portions. Form balls and roll them out. Fold the edges to the centre, creating the shape of Kaiser rolls. Check out the video recipe for a detailed demonstration. Let rise for 30 minutes.
Step 5. Place the prepared rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for 15 minutes.
Step 6. Serve the crispy Kaiser rolls with the prepared herb-garlic butter. Enjoy!
