Mysterious sirens unsettle Moscow amid silence from authorities

Around noon, alarm sirens sounded throughout Moscow. The reason remains unknown. Surprised Russians began widely sharing recordings of the alarms online. There were no warnings about a potential system test.

According to the "Ostorożno, Moscow" channel, reports came in from residents in the city centre about the operation of the alarm systems. "You can hear the siren, but no one warned us or issued any announcements," said one of the residents.

The sirens sounded for at least 10 minutes. There was also no information recorded about any attack on the capital.

The "Goworit i pokazujet Moscow" channel suggests that the sirens are likely being tested as part of previously announced anti-terrorism exercises in schools and universities, scheduled for April 29 and 30.

For now, it remains unclear what triggered their activation. There were no explanations or alerts about threats on television, the SOTAVision channel adds.
