North Korean blunder: Soldier shot while targeting a drone
A North Korean soldier accidentally shot his colleague while trying to fend off a Ukrainian drone. Ukrainian military personnel have released new footage from Russia's Kursk Oblast.
The footage was published by the UA_REG Team, which regularly shares photos and videos of North Korean soldiers in Kursk Oblast, Russia.
The latest video shows two of Kim Jong Un's soldiers in a sunflower field. One tries to take down a Ukrainian drone but inadvertently fires a shot that kills his companion.
Assault near Kursk: Kim's soldiers defeated
On Thursday, soldiers from Ukraine's 73rd Marine Special Operations Forces Centre (SSO) reported that they repelled an assault by North Korean troops in the same area. At least 12 soldiers were killed, and another 20 were injured.
"During the enemy's attempted assault, the SSO operators opened fire with a stationary MK-19 automatic grenade launcher and conducted a series of drone drops," reads the unit's statement.
Russians "burn their faces"
Also on Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in Brussels that there is no information about North Korean soldiers defecting to the Ukrainian side. He added that he knows, however, that bodies of Koreans are being found, even though the Russians do everything to prevent them from being identified. "The Russians are also trying to literally burn the faces of the killed North Korean soldiers," he stated.
Zelensky stated that individuals were discovered with Russian Federation documents and claimed that Russian forces go to great lengths, even burning faces, to prevent the identification of their soldiers. He noted that similar actions had been taken with their own fallen troops. Ukraine, he added, is actively documenting these incidents by gathering photos and videos of the soldiers' bodies.
