Trump escalates tensions with Colombia through tariffs and taunts

The American president does not mince words or measures. After Colombia refused to accept a plane carrying immigrants deported from the USA, he first announced financial sanctions and actions against Colombian authorities and officials. Then, he posted a significant photo on social media accompanied by an offensive slogan.

Following Donald Trump's decision to impose a 25% tariff and a wide range of financial sanctions against Colombia and Colombian officials and their families, a post on social media was also made.

Trump posted an image online in which he is styled in a manner reminiscent of gangster movies.

In the background, there is the abbreviation FAFO, which can be interpreted as a direct message to the Colombian authorities.

This abbreviation, popular among younger internet users, serves as a warning that actions have consequences. It is akin to phrases like "If you mess with the bull, you get the horns."

There is also a more explicit interpretation: "[Mess] Around and Find Out." Essentially, if someone causes trouble, they will soon encounter the consequences.

Trump announces tariffs and sanctions on Colombia

Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he directed the imposition of a 25% tariff and a broad array of financial sanctions against Colombia and Colombian officials and their families. The reason was Colombian President Gustavo Petro's refusal to allow illegal migrants to be deported by military planes.

As stated by the American president in a post on the Truth Social platform, the decision of the "socialist president," who is "already very unpopular amongst his people," compromised the national and public security of the USA.

In retaliation, he announced a series of actions and sanctions against the authorities in Bogotá.

Shortly after, the President of Colombia proposed sending a government plane to the United States to retrieve Colombian citizens deported from the USA - CNN reports.
