Antônio Leso Brás de Souza, a Brazilian bodybuilder, tragically died during a competition in São Paulo. Despite the immediate reaction of doctors on site, he could not be saved. The cause of death is known.

The Brazilian bodybuilder, Antônio Leso Brás de Souza, tragically died on 3 August during a competition in São Paulo. Doctors present on site tried to save him, but to no avail. The wife of the deceased, Yone Farias, confirmed that the cause of death was a heart attack.

Just before the competition, De Souza shared a video on social media in which he expressed hope for a successful event. He optimistically spoke to his fans:

All right, folks, off to the weigh-in. God willing, everything will go well. We’re lean, right? I think you can tell from my face - said Antônio Leso Brás de Souza.

On 6 August, the body of the bodybuilder is to be transported to his hometown of Manaus, where the funeral will be held.

Touching words from the deceased bodybuilder's wife

The distraught wife of De Souza posted a video where her husband smiles and flexes his muscles in front of the camera. In the post, she wrote:

Rest in peace, my eternal love. Although life has ended, my love for you will last forever. Your departure has left a void, but your memory will stay with me always.

De Souza enjoyed a large following on Instagram, where he amassed over 9,000 followers. He regularly shared posts about his intense workouts, pictures of his muscular and tattooed physique, and videos with his wife. He boasted of winning several trophies from 2020 to 2022 in his Instagram bio.

His death is a huge loss for the bodybuilding world, his family, and his fans, who admired his career and sports endeavours.

Not just Antônio Leso Brás de Souza

Another case is the death of George Peterson, known as "Da Bull". George died in October 2021, the day before a competition in Orlando, Florida. He was found unconscious in his hotel room by his coach, who stated that Peterson had died several hours earlier. George was an active competitor in the bodybuilding world and won many awards, including the Arnold Classic Physique in 2019.
