Moldova's precarious position: Kremlin influence grows
Moldova could face increased risk if Ukraine ceased its resistance. According to lawyer and human rights activist Ion Manole, the spread of Russian propaganda and misinformation has led to a decline in support among Moldovans for those affected by the conflict.
Moldova is under heavy pressure from Kremlin propaganda. The Russian narrative has a significant impact on society, changing opinions. This means that Chișinău has found itself second in Vladimir Putin's plan after Ukraine.
Lawyer and human rights activist Ion Manole noted that due to Russian propaganda and misinformation, the number of Moldovans supporting the victims and backing Ukraine has decreased. The activist warns that if the conflict in Ukraine is extinguished, Putin will turn his attention to Moldova.

Manole notes that support for the Russian Federation has grown among Moldovans, which is worrisome. He emphasizes that diminishing support for Ukraine could create challenges for Chișinău.
Manole stressed the importance of Moldova staying on a pro-European path, as it directly impacts Ukraine. He warned that Moldova could risk becoming another Belarus if a non-democratic regime governed Chișinău.
Moldova is struggling not only with Kremlin influences but also with political and economic problems. The results of the 2024 referendum showed that only 50.35% of citizens support EU membership.
