Seat Tarraco bows out to make way for new Cupra Terramar

Not all SUVs enjoy massive popularity, and the Seat Tarraco is a testament to this. The largest car in the Spanish brand's lineup is now vanishing from the market.

The Tarraco debuted in 2018 as the Spanish counterpart to the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. It was a large, attractive and reasonably priced SUV. The model also benefited from the typical 5-year Seat warranty. Despite these advantages, it never became a sales hit.

In June 2024, it was decided to cease production of this model and make way for a new SUV branded by the sister company Cupra. This new model refers to the Terramar, which will appear in showrooms later this year.

A statement published by the brand mentions that "The Tarraco was a success, but it will not have a successor." The company also adds, "From mid-2024, it intends to focus on the Terramar model".

In addition to an interesting design and sporty character, the car is also set to offer various powertrains. Besides the standard petrol engines, there will also be plug-in hybrids.

We will soon learn the detailed specifications and offerings. Time will tell if the Terramar will achieve greater success than the Tarraco.
