Ukraine targets Russian oil lifelines amid diplomatic tensions

The Ukrainian armed forces remain resolute, undeterred by the forthcoming discussions between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. The SBU reported a successful attack on the oil pumping station in Krasnodar Krai, Russia. This presents a significant challenge for two refineries.

Ukraine finds itself in a challenging situation ahead of the negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. The American politician and the Russian leader do not foresee a place at the table in Riyadh for representatives of the affected nation.

However, Ukrainian services are determined to "remind" the Russians of their presence. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported that on 20 February at 15:00 GMT, a successful drone raid targeted an oil pumping station in Krasnodar Krai, Russia.

Drones struck the power substation supplying electricity to the Russian pump, resulting in a power outage in the area. This caused an interruption at the Novovelichkovskaya pumping station.

The pumping station is a crucial component of Russia's infrastructure, supplying oil to the Afipka and Ilsky refineries. It is one of the essential elements of Russia's oil processing system.

Is the Ukraine-Russia conflict entering a decisive phase?

In the coming weeks, it will be evident how the potential negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Riyadh will unfold. Until then, intensified military actions are expected.

Meanwhile, Ukrainians will persist in targeting Russian infrastructure, depriving the Russian army of financial resources. There is also the possibility of escalated actions in the Kursk region, parts of which remain under Ukrainian control.
