It was the 91st minute. Fans were slowly preparing for extra time in the Euro 2024 semi-final between the Netherlands and England when Ollie Watkins scored a goal to make it 2-1 for the Three Lions. The Aston Villa striker received a pass into the penalty area from Cole Palmer, shrugged off the defender with a deft touch, and shot low past the diving goalkeeper.
Interestingly, Palmer and Watkins entered the pitch a few minutes earlier, replacing England's true stars, Phil Foden and Harry Kane. Manager Gareth Southgate masterminded this move.
Watkins has been on the lips of the British media since Wednesday evening. His girlfriend is Ellie Alderson, who is hugely popular on social media.
