Vice Governor of Primorsky Krai killed in Kursk region blast

The Vice Governor of Primorsky Krai, Sergei Yefremov, was killed in the Kursk region. The military vehicle he was in most likely hit a mine.

Yefremov commanded the "Tiger" volunteer unit in the Kursk region. The Russian news agency Interfax reported that the Vice Governor was killed "during a return from a combat mission."

Telegram channels close to Russian services reported that the vehicle in which Yefremov was travelling hit a mine in the Kursk region. Along with him, another officer of the Russian Armed Forces was killed.

The Governor of Primorsky Krai, Oleg Kozhemyako, confirmed that Yefremov was killed on February 2, 2024, Eastern Time.

The "Tiger" unit

Yefremov commanded the "Tiger" unit, which was formed in the summer of 2022 based on the 155th Marine Infantry Brigade of the Pacific Fleet. In August 2024, this unit was transferred to the Kursk region.

Yefremov has held the position of Vice Governor since 2024. He was responsible for the internal policy of the regional government.
