Belarus and China launch "Falcon Attack" drills near NATO borders
Belarus has begun joint military exercises with China near the borders of Ukraine and Poland. Manoeuvres under the "Falcon Attack" codename occur at the Brest training ground.
Many pieces of information provided by Russian and Belarusian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the Russian Federation's information war.
As part of the exercises, military personnel from both countries will work on issues such as night landings, overcoming water obstacles, and conducting operations in populated areas.
- Global events and the situation are complex, so after studying new forms and methods of conducting tactical tasks, we will work through all these moments here at the exercises. Taking into account all the latest developments in recent years, we will implement them and see how the joint unit will conduct its operations - commented the Belarusian Armed Forces special forces commander, Major General Vadim Denisenko.
The commander stressed that the units would be consolidated at some stage. There will not be a separate Chinese or Belarusian unit—they will operate together.
Maneuvers right near the Polish border
The Brest training ground is just 40 kilometres from the Ukrainian border and about 30 kilometres from the Polish border. The military manoeuvres are scheduled to last until 19 July.
As noted by Sky News, the exercises are taking place on the eve of the NATO summit in Washington, where 32 member countries of the North Atlantic alliance will meet to discuss further military and financial support for Ukraine.
Earlier, the Censor.NET portal reported that military personnel from China had arrived in Belarus for "joint anti-terrorism exercises."
