Homemade window cleaner: Black tea and vinegar alternatives revealed

In shops, we find a variety of window-cleaning products containing strong cleaning ingredients. Spray the window, wipe it with a cloth, and in a few minutes, enjoy clean and shiny windows.

What do you do when you run out of cleaner? In such a situation, it's worth reaching for products you might have in your kitchen cupboard. They produce similar results to store-bought cleaners and are much cheaper.

If you run out of window cleaner at home and need to wash your windows, don't worry. You probably have everything you need at home. Black tea works excellently in washing windows, leaving no streaks, smudges, or residue of dust and dirt. Moreover, it can be used to clean all glass surfaces, including oven doors and mirrors.

How to clean windows with tea: Brew a few bags of black tea and let it cool. Soak a paper towel in the prepared tea and thoroughly wash the windows. During washing, streaks will appear, but they will disappear once the tea dries. Polishing will not be necessary.

Our grandmothers often washed windows with a solution of water and vinegar. Vinegar not only cleans thoroughly but also gives windows a shine. To use it for window cleaning, simply mix 100 ml of vinegar with 500 ml of warm water. Then, soak a paper towel or a microfibre cloth in this solution and thoroughly wipe the windows. The result will be shiny and streak-free windows. Unfortunately, the vinegar smell will linger in the house for about an hour after washing the windows.

Many people also use diluted washing-up liquid instead of dedicated window cleaner. Just add a tablespoon of liquid to 500 ml of warm water. Soak a soft microfibre cloth in this solution and wipe the windows. The result is clean and shiny windows.
