Paving stones can be an aesthetic and relatively easy-to-maintain feature of our garden. How should we take care of them to avoid green deposits and weeds?

Paving stones have many applications. One of them is the creation of home walkways leading to the gate or driveways where we park our cars. The paving stones must be properly maintained to prevent cracks and green deposits.

If you notice the first signs, take action immediately. How should you go about correctly cleaning the paving stones? Some methods can deal with dirt quickly and effectively.

How to clean paving stones? There's no better way

If we do not want to allow green deposits to form, we must regularly pull weeds that grow between the stones. Every garden store has useful tools for removing unwanted plants and their roots.

A special brush or garden washer will be useful to thoroughly clean already dirty paving stones. High-pressure water will quickly deal with green deposits from moss or algae. However, if we do not have a washer, we will need to use shop-bought solutions. Alternatively, we can prepare them ourselves.

Simply mix water with vinegar in a 2:1 ratio. Then, spray and thoroughly clean the stones on a sunny day using a brush, for example.

Gardeners also claim that a gas burner can help remove green deposits. Weeds or moss dry up, fall off, and can be easily removed.

Better to prevent than to work hard later

What can we do to reduce the risk of mossy deposits? It is worth paying attention to how professionals lay the stones. If the stones are properly matched to the substrate, carefully laid, and specialists take care of the gradients, the likelihood of problems with moss, weeds, and algae decreases.

We should also familiarize ourselves with the characteristics of specific paving stones available on the market. The better the quality, the more resistant the paving will be to all kinds of damage and plant growth.
