Many gardening enthusiasts start thinking about preparing plants for the winter in autumn. Thujas, so popular in the gardens and on balconies, require special attention during this period to ensure they are delighted with their appearance in the upcoming season.

Thujas are visually attractive and easy to cultivate, making them an ideal choice for novice gardeners. Due to their popularity, you can find them in various places, from home gardens to city parks.

More beautiful thujas in the new season

Although thujas are relatively weather-resistant, it's worth taking proper care of them. Preparing the plants for winter is crucial to enjoy their beauty in the coming season. Here's what you should do in the autumn to make your garden impress your neighbours.

Fertilising thujas is usually done three times a year: in spring, summer, and autumn. The last fertilisation should be carried out in September or, at the latest, at the beginning of October. Using the right fertiliser is key here – each season requires a different type of nutrient.

How to fertilise thujas before winter?

In the autumn, the best choice is a fertiliser rich in potassium and phosphorus, which will prepare the plants for winter conditions. Magnesium is also essential, as its deficiency can lead to the yellowing and dying of thujas.

Ready-made fertilisers designed especially for various plants are available on the market. For thujas, both granular fertilisers for mixing with soil and liquid fertilisers for dilution and watering work well.
