The Argentina national team defeated Canada 2-0 in the fight for a place in the final of the Copa America 2024. Leo Messi scored one of the goals, making him the second-highest scorer in the history of international football. After the match, the captain of Albicelestes went to the mixed zone of Meadowlands Stadium, where sports journalists were waiting for him.

In the mixed zone, players give interviews while others pass behind them, heading towards the stadium's exit. When the 37-year-old spoke into the microphones and cameras, the goalkeeper of Lionel Scaloni's team, Emiliano Martinez, kissed the back of the Inter Miami star's neck. The recording of the incident hit the web and gathered numerous views, with the count still rising.

Lionel Messi only smiled at the goalkeeper's gesture before following him with his eyes and continuing the conversation with reporters.

Copa America 2024, like Euro 2024, is entering its decisive phase. After the Argentinians' victory over Canada, only two matches remain until the end of the tournament. The second semifinal will feature the national teams of Uruguay and Colombia. The former team is considered to be the favourite for this match.

If the Argentinians win the American competition, they will defend the title from the last tournament and also become the individual leader with the highest number of gold medals in the competition's history. Moreover, for the first time since 1993, they will win the tournament twice in a row. The final match has been scheduled for 15 July at 1:00 AM GMT in Miami Gardens.
