Greying hair is a sign of ageing that many people try to hide. But why spend a fortune on regular visits to the hair salon when you can reduce greying with natural, homemade methods? Do scroll down to learn a few of them.

Grey hair is one of the first signs of body ageing. It usually appears first on the top of the head and the temples. This process is related to the cells that produce a pigment called melanin. When melanocytes stop making it, the hair loses its natural colour and turns grey. Although greying hair is a completely natural course of events, many people try to delay this moment.

Grey hair is an aesthetic problem for many women. One solution is regular visits to the hairdresser. Fortunately, nature offers us methods that can help hide greying hair. Thanks to them, you don't have to spend a fortune.

Natural methods for grey hair

One of the most popular tricks is using ground coffee. Simply pour boiling water over a few teaspoons and wait for the brew to cool. Then, apply it to washed hair and leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. Regular use will show results in just two weeks. However, it is worth noting that this method is mainly recommended for brunettes and brown-haired people.

Another way to tackle grey hair is much less known, but it beats coffee grounds regarding care properties. It involves using beetroot juice (you can make it yourself with a juicer) as a rinse created in a 1:2 ratio with water. Like the previous method, pour it over previously washed hair, wait a while, and rinse with warm water. Beetroot juice will darken grey strands, but be careful not to overdo it, as it can give them a pink or red tint.

It is worth knowing that this natural product nourishes the hair roots, making hair stronger, resistant to falling out, and stimulating growth. Beetroot juice is a natural emollient, making strands soft and shiny. Additionally, it has anti-inflammatory properties and helps fight dandruff.

Another way to darken grey hair is to prepare rinses and rubs from herbs. Nettle and sage are plants that not only mask grey hair but also strengthen it. Simply brew a few bags of these herbs in a litre of hot water. It is best to let the brew sit for a few hours, then rinse your hair with it. Sage additionally strengthens and nourishes the hair roots, which is particularly recommended for people with oily and falling hair problems.

grey hair as a new trend

More and more women are forgoing dyeing and accepting their natural grey hair. An example is actress Andie MacDowell, who publicly flaunts her grey hair (even on the red carpet). And how does it look on the Polish scene? Anna Mucha often appears in the natural version, with grey strands, without meticulously styled hair and makeup. Similar "actions" are also done by Joanna Koroniewska.
