Donald Trump returned once again to the failed assassination attempt on his life. The Republican candidate stated that the attack "is to some extent the fault of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris".

Trump argued in an interview that despite his team's efforts, the Secret Service protection level at his rallies was insufficient. - I think it is to some extent the fault of Biden and Harris. I am their opponent. They used the apparatus of power as a weapon against me (...). They were not very interested in my health and safety - Trump stated.

The Republican candidate suggested that Biden and Harris, with their rhetoric in which they accused him of threatening democracy, may have inspired the assassin.

- It was their standard line, just keep saying it and you know it can motivate killers or potential killers. Maybe that bullet was the result of their rhetoric - he stated.

Failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump

On 13 July, during a campaign rally in the state of Pennsylvania, Trump became the target of a failed assassination attempt. Twenty-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks fired a shot at the former president from a distance of about 140 metres, wounding his ear.

The assassin was shot by a Secret Service sniper. During a congressional hearing, the director of the service, Kimberly Cheatle, ultimately resigned.

The investigation into potential negligence is being conducted by Congress, and Trump has already announced that if he is elected President of the USA, he will appoint a special commission to investigate all the circumstances of the 13 July assassination attempt.
