Volodymyr Zelensky issued a statement following Joe Biden's decision to withdraw from the US presidential race. The President of Ukraine thanked Biden for his "unwavering support." "He supported our country at the most dramatic moment in our history," wrote the head of the war-torn country.

On Sunday evening, Greenwich Time, Joe Biden announced that he is withdrawing from running for the office of President of the USA. "Although it was my intention to seek re-election, I believe that in the best interests of my party and the country, I should step aside and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term," he wrote in a statement on platform X.

In response to the sitting US president's decision, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on social media. "Ukraine is grateful to President Biden for his unwavering support for the Ukrainian fight for freedom, which – along with strong bipartisan support in the United States – has been and remains crucial," Zelensky wrote on platform X.

The President of Ukraine added that Biden made many decisions that "will be remembered as bold steps taken in response to difficult times." "And we respect today's difficult but resolute decision," Zelensky added.

"We will always be grateful for President Biden's leadership. He supported our country at the most dramatic moment in our history, helped us prevent the occupation of our country by Putin, and continues to support us throughout this terrible war," the statement further reads.

Volodymyr Zelensky declared his willingness to cooperate with any US leader. He also hoped that the next leadership would be equally strong and "prevent the success of Russian evil."
