Last Saturday, at the age of 53, Shannen Doherty passed away after many years of battling cancer. The actress gained popularity thanks to her role as Brenda in the popular series "Beverly Hills 90210". Now, the actor who played her twin brother has spoken out.

Brenda and Brandon Walsh are characters from the cult teen series. The siblings and their parents moved to Beverly Hills, where the teenagers (in reality, the actors playing the high school kids were over 20 years old) had to adapt to their new reality and find friends.

Jason Priestley was tired of how his participation in the soap opera impacted his private life. Fans wouldn’t leave him alone; he was continuously associated with the character he merely played. Therefore, he left the production before the finale. He lasted on set for a little over 8 out of 10 seasons. To his credit, the actor has many TV and film roles, but none equalled the popularity of this one groundbreaking role.

A few hours after the sad news of Shannen Doherty’s passing, Priestley posted a picture of them together from the series' set and a few words on his Instagram account.

"Shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of my friend Shannen. She was a force of nature and I will miss her. Sending love and light to her family in this dark time," he wrote.

Chemistry off the set

Although they played twins, they both felt there was chemistry between them off the set.

Their last photo was taken five months ago when they were both at MegaCon in Orlando, where they appeared together on stage. They broadly smiled at each other, discussing the years spent together on the set.
