Vice President of the USA Kamala Harris, who is set to run for the Democratic Party's nomination, delivered her first speech following Joe Biden's withdrawal from the presidential race.

Vice President Kamala Harris, poised to take Joe Biden's place in the battle against Donald Trump for the presidency of the United States, delivered her inaugural speech on the White House lawn on Monday afternoon.

Harris on Biden’s achievements

- Our president Joe Biden wanted to be here today. He is feeling much better and recovering fast, and he looks forward to getting back on the road - began Kamala Harris.

She briefly recounted how she met Biden and added that she is "deeply grateful" for "his service to the nation." She emphasized that the current President of the USA has "a big heart, is honest, devoted to faith and family, and deeply loves his country."

According to Harris, "Biden's achievements over the past three years are unparalleled in modern history." The gathered audience responded with applause to these words.

In the subsequent part of her speech, Harris moved on to the main topic of the meeting, which was to honour the 2023-2024 NCAA champions.
