On Friday evening in Solingen, North Rhine-Westphalia, a knife attack occurred. The newspaper "Welt am Sonntag," citing an internal police report, stated that during the attack, the perpetrator was shouting "Allahu Akbar" (God is great - ed.).

The cited police report in Solingen stated that a witness who was injured as a result of the crime declared that the suspect was "known from Solingen" and had also been a guest at a local mosque.

On Saturday afternoon, the police informed that a 15-year-old was detained in connection with the attack, who had reportedly spoken with the potential perpetrator just before the incident. German authorities are now verifying the role of the teenager.

The authorities also reported that they managed to find the murder weapon, which was located approximately 200 yards from the scene in one of the rubbish bins. Searches for the suspect responsible for the attack are still ongoing. The police mentioned "extensive search operations" for the escaped perpetrator in North Rhine-Westphalia and across Germany.
