In the town of Śmiła in the Cherkasy region of Ukraine, a young man repeatedly struck a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. An investigation was swiftly initiated, and the police are set to determine who perpetrated the assault on the Ukrainian veteran. Public opinion is outraged.

The head of the National Police has already reported the first results of the official investigation into the assault on the veteran in the town of Śmiła in the Cherkasy region.

The situation in Smila is shameful. No one has the right to humiliate veterans. Everything that happened will receive a proper and tough response from law enforcement. Criminal proceedings have already been initiated - emphasised Igor Klymenko.

As Klymenko adds, an official investigation has also begun into the inaction of local police officers. Some people even accuse them of collaborating with criminals and the local mafia.

Every day, Ukraine resists a cruel enemy thanks to the bravery of our Defence and Security Forces, all our soldiers. And each of our soldiers, all our people deserve respect and the rule of law. This is how it should be - he concluded.

Ukrainian soldier beaten in his own country. He demanded the truth

It all started at the end of August when Anatoliy Goncharenko posted online looking for a car with foreign number plates. According to Goncharenko, the driver of this car caused an accident involving his parents.

The matter escalated because a scandalous incident occurred after the soldier posted this entry. In a video shared on the censoret.net site, we see Goncharenko being repeatedly struck by an unknown man.

It is worth noting that the residents of Śmiła quickly identified the person who mocked the soldier and forced him to apologise. The attacker was Vadim Dolotenko, who has strong ties to the criminal underworld.

The 28-year-old man was hiding from law enforcement in one of the hotels in the Cherkasy region. He is currently in custody with the involvement of special police officers. The court will soon determine a preventative measure for him.

Additionally, a search was conducted at the suspect's residence, resulting in the seizure of narcotics and weapons.

Telegram channels also published a video of the suspect's apology. The man assures that he respects the Ukrainian army and does not want "this to happen."
