Moscow thwarts major drone attack: Air defence intercepts ten UAVs

The authorities in Moscow reported early on Wednesday morning that about ten Ukrainian drones had been detected over the city during the night. The mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sobyanin, stated on social media that it was "one of the biggest attempts to attack Moscow using drones."

Many of the pieces of information provided by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.


Sobyanin reported about the foreign drones over the city on Telegram.

"At night, the air defence of the Moscow region shot down ten Ukrainian drones attempting to attack the city," he wrote. The mayor assured that the drones did not cause any serious damage in Moscow. According to him, no residents were harmed either.

Debris from the drones also fell on the city of Podolsk on the outskirts of Moscow.

"This is one of the most massive attempts to attack the capital using drones so far," Sobyanin emphasised.

Ukrainians attacked Moscow: explosions over the city

Early in the morning, videos of bright spots appearing in the night sky surfaced on social media. According to the reports, these were drones being shot down over Moscow by Russian air defence.

The Ukrainian side has not yet commented on the reports of the attack on the Russian capital.
