On the A4 motorway between Dresden and Erfurt near Chemnitz (Saxony), there were nine accidents involving about 25 vehicles. Authorities confirmed that five people were injured, including two seriously.

The series of accidents occurred on Sunday afternoon in the area before the Berbersdorf junction, heading towards Chemnitz. According to the police, there was a brief storm at the time of the incidents, according to the DPA agency.

Five people injured

At the same time, there was also an accident heading towards Dresden. There is currently no information about injuries in this incident. In total, 25 vehicles were involved in the pile-up.

Authorities confirmed that five people were injured, including two seriously.

Starting at 2 PM GMT, the motorway was closed entirely toward Chemnitz. Rescue operations and subsequent road cleaning were expected to continue until late evening.
