North Korea mobilizes military and youth amid devastating floods

The effects of a catastrophic flood hit North Korea. Kim Jong Un called on the military and Korean youth to combat the natural disaster. The dictator wants reinforcements to resolve the crisis that has gripped his country.

Northern Koreans must deal with the aftermath of a flood that has struck their country. Regime media report that the water destroyed over 4,000 homes. Many people died. Kim Jong Un arrived at the site of one of the disasters.

Kim Jong Un convened a special meeting of the North Korean Politburo, ordering inspections of damaged strategic installations, homes, railway tracks, and roads. The city of Sinŭiju, in the north-western part of the country, was particularly affected by the flood.

The dictator "proposed severe punishment for those who seriously neglected their duties entrusted to them by the Party and the state, thus causing the loss of life and dissatisfaction among the Korean public." International agencies report that North Korean residents believe officials led to such a large scale of destruction.

The North Korean dictator decided to mobilize the military and youth to fight the natural disaster. All provinces are to delegate young party members and military personnel to travel to the flood-affected area.

The North Korean newspaper "Rodong Sinmun" reports that as of July 27th, over 3,000 hectares were flooded. North Korean bridges are also damaged.

The flood could also have a catastrophic economic impact on Northern Koreans. Experts from South Korea believe the regime will feel a decline in trade volume with China.
