Overnight rocket salvo from Lebanon strikes Northern Israel

Approximately 30 missiles were launched overnight from Lebanon towards northern Israel. A few landed in open areas, and there were no casualties, according to the army. The Israeli military is striking the area from which the rockets were fired.

Nearly 30 rockets came from Lebanon, and sirens wailed in northern Israel, reports The Jerusalem Post.

The IDF asserts that a few of the missiles landed in open areas, resulting in no casualties.

According to the Hezbollah-linked site Al Mayadeen, Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the shelling, stating that its target was a military base.

"n support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and their valiant and honorable resistance, and in response to the Israeli enemy’s attacks on the steadfast southern villages and peaceful homes, especially in the town of Ma’aroub, the Mujahideen of the Islamic Resistance bombed the newly established headquarters of the 146th Division Command in Ja'toun on Monday, 12-8-2024, with volleys of Katyusha rockets," quotes the news service Al Mayadeen.

There are also reports that nearly all the rockets launched from Lebanon towards the north were not intercepted by the Iron Dome and hit designated targets.

According to reports from the Israeli side, there are no casualties. Ynet reports that fires broke out near Moshav Avdon.

Earlier, sirens wailed in northern Israel, and a rocket attack alert was announced.

Israeli intelligence assesses that a direct Iranian attack on the Jewish state, in retaliation for the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, will occur in the coming days, reported the Times of Israel on Sunday evening.

According to sources cited by the portal, the Iranian attack could happen before the scheduled negotiations in Cairo on Thursday regarding a truce in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages.
