A Ukrainian woman captured on her phone the moment a Russian missile hit a shopping centre in Dnipro. Authorities report five casualties. 34 people were injured, with two in serious condition.

An alarm in the Dnipropetrovsk region sounded. Moments later, the media reported a massive explosion in the city.

She recorded the moment of the attack

Russians attacked the city with missiles and drones.

"Four people died" - reported the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak. He added that the number of injured rose to 34 people.

"One-third of them are in the hospital. People mostly have shrapnel and cut wounds, bruises, and fractures" - reads a post on Telegram.

Zelensky reacts to the attack

One of the Ukrainian women who was near the shopping centre recorded the moment a Russian missile struck. Media speculate that the missile was shot down by Ukrainian air defence. Authorities have not confirmed this yet.

In another recording, you can see terrified people fleeing by car away from the explosion site. Black smoke billows behind them.

The attack was responded to by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who wrote that the number of casualties had risen to five. "My condolences to the family and friends. 34 people were injured, including a child. All necessary State Emergency Service units are involved in the operation; rescuers are providing assistance to all victims," - reads the statement.

"Only two things can stop Russian terror – modern air defence systems and the long range of our weapons. The world can protect lives and requires the determination of leaders. The determination that can and must make safety from terrorism a norm again," - added Zelensky.
