According to CNN's preliminary summary, former US President Donald Trump made at least 33 false statements during the debate. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris made only one false claim.

According to CNN, during the presidential debate, Trump once again made a large number of various false statements, among which his statements on topics such as abortion, immigration, and the economy were described as "blatant lies."

Harris was much more reliable than Trump—CNN's preliminary calculations showed only one false statement by the current vice president, although several other statements of hers could be described as misleading or out of context.

Among Trump's false words, those about the supposed lack of inflation during his tenure were mentioned. Although, as noted, inflation was at a low level towards the end of his term, his claim cannot be agreed with.

During the debate, Trump made false statements about migrants

However, the topic of migrants was primarily mentioned repeatedly. Trump made a statement about migrants coming to the US after escapes from prisons or psychiatric hospitals.

"We have millions of people pouring into our country from prisons and jails, from mental institutions and insane asylums," Trump claimed, which is not reflected in reality.

The former US President also made a widely commented claim that Haitian immigrants in the city of Springfield in Ohio were stealing people's dogs and cats and then eating them.

"In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs. The people that came in, they’re eating the cats," Trump stated, adding that "they’re eating the pets of the people that live there."

According to CNN, both the city of Springfield and the local police declared that there is no evidence for this claim, and the source of such claims by Trump may be a Facebook post in which someone claiming to be a local resident shared such a story.

Trump stated that Harris unsuccessfully negotiated with Putin

In addition, Trump claimed, among other things, that Vice President Kamala Harris met with Vladimir Putin a few days before Russia's invasion of Ukraine but failed to dissuade him from the idea of attacking.

"They sent her to negotiate peace before this war started," said Trump. "Three days later, he went in, and he started the war because everything they said was weak and stupid."

Harris never participated in peace negotiations and never met with Putin. In reality, she met with US allies, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, at the Munich Security Conference in February 2022, a few days before Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Putin did not attend the conference.
