New Google Play feature: Apps auto-launch post-installation

The Google Play Store for Android apps has added a new feature related to program installation. Users can now use a slider to enable the automatic launch option during downloads. Previously, manual monitoring of the installation process was necessary.

Android users who want to launch an app immediately after downloading it from the Google Play Store no longer need to watch the progress bar for download and installation. Neowin notes that a new slider has been added to Google Play, allowing users to enable automatic program launch once the entire process is completed.

According to the underlying code, the app will automatically launch with a five-second delay from when the download and installation are completed. During this time, the user will receive a notification from Google Play about the impending launch.

The new option may seem insignificant, but it can make using new apps easier in many cases. In the age of quickly "swelling" programs, which often take up hundreds of megabytes, downloading and installation do not always take just a few seconds (especially if the user cannot access fast mobile internet, for example, due to their place of residence). Instead of manually monitoring the download and installation progress bar, Android users can occupy themselves with something else while waiting for the app to be ready for launch.

Simultaneously, the Google Play update also introduces the ability to download and install up to three apps simultaneously. This is an interesting change, considering that only recently was the option to download two programs in parallel added to the program. As long as the user has a sufficiently fast internet connection and a new smartphone capable of handling multi-threading efficiently, parallel downloading will enable, among other things, faster app updates.
