Russian army faces personnel crisis as war pressures mount
Data provided by British intelligence services suggest that the Russian army might be in trouble. Russia's war tactics require a constant replenishment of infantry personnel, which is becoming increasingly problematic.
The intelligence services of the United Kingdom point out that it will be difficult for the Russians to continue conducting total war, which demands enormous infantry forces. The ability to replenish personnel is slowly being exhausted. This also limits the Russian army's ability to form units with higher combat capabilities.
An example is analysing information from the Russian portal "Important Stories". The Russians themselves admit that the defence of the Kursk region is handled by the specialised Motorised Rifle Regiment and the unusual Aerospace Forces.
According to the British intelligence report, forming such unconventional units indicates huge staffing shortages in Russia. The report's authors add that the Russians will no longer be able to conduct a prolonged war with such a pattern of operations.

British services believe Russia's problems stem from the enormous number of casualties on the front, which none of the commanders has really accounted for so far.
Russia continues to develop new units and recruit more personnel to sustain its mass attritional warfare approach against Ukraine. The high casualty rates that result mean that Russia needs to continuously replenish front line infantry personnel, which will almost certainly continue to limit Russia’s ability to generate higher capability units - the report authors write.
Additionally, the Ukrainian offensive in Russia is ongoing. The Ukrainian army gains several square kilometres of territory in the Kursk region every day and is constantly approaching Kursk.
