Sevastopol beaches prepare for shelters amid ongoing missile threat
For several months, Ukrainians have been targeting occupied Crimea. During one such attack, debris from a launched missile reportedly fell on residents relaxing on the beach in Sevastopol. A peculiar notice recently appeared on the beaches near the city, suggesting that the authorities plan to construct shelters there.
Sevastopol, located on the western side of the Crimean Peninsula, serves as the principal base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Despite a series of attacks reducing the number of Russian ships stationed there, it continues to be a target for Ukrainians.
On 23 June, local occupation authorities reported the shooting down of five Ukrainian missiles, fragments of which fell on beaches in the districts of Uchkuyevka and Lyubimovka. According to Russian media, five people died and 150 were injured.
On Thursday, the Krymski Wiatr service used its Telegram channel to publish a photo of a notice posted at the entrance to one of Sevastopol's beaches.
Will they build shelters on the beaches?
"Attention! This beach is not equipped with adequate shelters. Staying here during an attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine is not safe," reads the notice.
Even more intriguing is the continuation of the notice: "The authorities of Sevastopol recommend refraining from staying on the beach until the installation of reinforced concrete protective structures."
According to Krymski Wiatr, similar notices have appeared on all the beaches on the northern side of Sevastopol, including Uchkuyevka beach.
"The special military operation (this is what Russians call the war in Ukraine - ed.) is going according to plan," commented Krymski Wiatr regarding the appearance of these notices.
